Voices from the Recession in Maryland In 2009, the Maryland Alliance for the Poor undertook a project designed to give vulnerable Marylanders their own voice in the public square. MAP hired a journalist to travel the State, interviewing and writing about those living in or near poverty. The project resulted in some 30 interviews. "Their Voices" is the culmination of this work. It includes 14 of the stories, organized into sections relating to housing (“Shelter”), health (“Strength”), and work (“Support”).
